Moscow is the most populated city on the European continent and has more to see than is possible to accomplish in one trip. Most hostels are located within a close radius of the Kremlin, allowing great accessibility to the best of Moscow's attractions.
A 15-minute walk to the southwest of the Kremlin is Buddy Bear Hostel, where you can get a bed in a mixed dorm for $15. Buddy Bear has one of the cheapest options in the city that tends to be one of the most expensive in Europe. It will place you in a strategic position where you can experience the best of Moscow. Close by is Old Arbat Street, one of the best places to live in historic Moscow that is now covered with tourist-friendly shops and restaurants. Some speculation has been given to the authenticity of the restaurants on Old Arbat Street, with some complaints being that it is overpriced and of lower quality than the majority of places in Moscow. Regardless of the quality of Old Arbat's restaurants, it is a great place to walk and enjoy some of the oldest parts of the city. Buddy Bear Hostel is a great hub from which to explore it.
One of the most popular hostels in Moscow is Green ManGO Hostel that offers beds anywhere from $16 and up. The hostel is nearby the heart of the city and is located very close to the main train station, making it easy to have as your home base as you learn and explore the city. The amenities at Green ManGO are top notch and have been described by some reviewers as being basically a big apartment, complete with kitchens and comfortable beds and couches. For those tired nights, there is a nearby supermarket so that you can cook for yourself and there is an Xbox for use for free in the common room.
Directly north of the Kremlin is Godzillas Hostel that offers beds for as low as $16. Godzillas is western owned and operated and can offer you everything you need to properly experience the city.
