The Arbat

Walking around the center of Moscow necessarily implies getting on the Arbat, the main pedestrian area in the Russian capital and an epitome of the traditional Russian culture.

A favorite symbol of Moscow, the Arbat has more than once been celebrated in poems and musical creations, not to mention that it carries a historic charge of no less than five hundred years.

Originally inhabited by merchants and craftspeople, the Arbat became a favorite spot for the nobility during the 19 th century. Tourists can still admire the rich and fashionable mansions that were erected in this beautiful district area.
